Frequently asked questions

The questions Bengaluru homeowners actually ask us — about cost after subsidy, BESCOM sanctioned-load increases, who does the installation, and what Helira puts in writing. Where a question has a longer answer, we link to the guide that gives it properly.

Cost and subsidy

What will I actually pay for a 3 kW system?
A 3 kW DCR system on a typical Bengaluru independent house is ₹2,62,725 including GST, and ₹1,84,725 after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. A BESCOM sanctioned-load increase, where one is needed, is charged extra and appears as its own line. The real net cost after subsidy
Is the ₹78,000 subsidy worth ₹78,000 to me?
Not quite. The subsidy requires DCR panels, which cost more than the equivalent imported ones, so the true incremental benefit is closer to ₹59,000. It is still worth taking — we would simply rather you heard it from us. What the PM Surya Ghar subsidy is really worth
My BESCOM sanctioned load is only 1 kW — can I still install 3 kW?
Yes, but the sanctioned load has to be increased first, or BESCOM will not approve net metering; most Bengaluru homes are on a legacy 1 kW load. Helira prepares and runs the enhancement application, and the BESCOM charge for the increase is charged extra, on its own line on your quote — Rs 10,000 for +1 kW, Rs 15,000 for +2 kW, Rs 7,000 per kW at +3 kW and above, plus GST. Nil if your sanction already suffices. BESCOM net metering, end to end

Coverage and eligibility

Do you serve my area — I'm in JP Nagar / Banashankari?
Yes. Helira works across South Bengaluru, including JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Banashankari and the Kanakapura Road corridor. We are a service-area business — we come to your roof rather than you coming to an office.
Do you work with rented houses or apartments?
Not at present. Helira currently works with owner-occupied independent houses. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy requires ownership, and apartment common-area projects follow a different process that we are not taking on today.

How it works

Can I get a price without a salesman visiting my house?
Yes, and that is the point. Enter your address and your monthly electricity bill on our website and you get a real estimate for your own roof before anyone visits — the site assessment happens later, once you have already seen the number. A self-serve quote, without a site visit
Who actually installs the system — Helira or a contractor?
Installation is carried out by installers certified to Helira’s standard, and Helira answers for the work. Your contract, your warranty and your service accountability sit with Helira Energy Private Limited. One company answers for your system. Who installs, and who is accountable afterwards
How long does the whole process take?
The quote takes minutes. The BESCOM approvals are the long pole — feasibility and net-metering approval typically run several weeks. Incomplete or inconsistent paperwork is the most common cause of delay, which is why Helira prepares and runs the applications rather than leaving them with you.
What documents do I need?
Aadhaar, PAN, and one address proof — sale deed, khata, property tax receipt, a recent utility bill or a bank statement. If you are claiming the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, the sale deed is required. You will also need a recent BESCOM bill so we can size the system from your actual consumption.

What we commit to

What is the warranty, and who honours it?
25-year module performance warranty — service accountability owned by Helira. Inverter and product warranties run per the installed make and model, and Helira administers every claim end-to-end. You never chase a manufacturer or an installer.
Do you guarantee how much electricity my system will produce?
Within defined terms, yes — it is called Helira Assured Generation. On an eligible roof — shadow-free, confirmed at your site assessment, with your Helira maintenance plan continuously active from commissioning — we assure 1,500 kWh per kWp per year, in writing, for five years. It is measured over each full year from commissioning, never a single month, because monsoon and summer output are different animals. If your system falls short across a guarantee year, we credit ₹8 for every missing unit against your next year of maintenance, up to that plan's value. Sunlight itself is not warrantable, and we do not pretend otherwise.
What if the roof leaks where you drilled?
That is Helira Roof Shield. Every penetration we make is sealed to spec and covered against leaks for five years. If it leaks at our anchor point, we inspect within 72 hours and complete the repair within 7 days, at our cost. It covers our anchor points — not pre-existing roof problems elsewhere.
