Helira Energy Private Limited is a brand + technology company for residential rooftop solar in Bengaluru. Helira-certified installers carry out the physical work; the warranty and accountability stay with Helira. Every install sits inside a grid-tied net-metering process with BESCOM and a subsidy claim under PM Surya Ghar (PMSGMBY), and this role keeps both moving.

Why this role exists

Regulatory work currently runs informally as volume grows. This is the first regulatory liaison hire, joining in September and reporting to the founder, with the mandate to own the BESCOM and PM Surya Ghar processes as a repeatable operation rather than a one-off task per job.

What you will do

• Manage net-metering applications with BESCOM for every install, start to finish.
• Track subsidy claims filed under PM Surya Ghar (PMSGMBY) through Helira's partner vendors-of-record, chasing status and resolving documentation gaps.
• Coordinate the FORM-B1 chain with the licensed electrical contractor Helira retains, keeping paperwork accurate and on schedule.
• Maintain working relationships with BESCOM offices and relevant government portals, understanding the specific documentation each office expects.
• Keep a clean, current record of every application's status, and flag jobs at risk of delay.
• Brief the operations and customer success teams on regulatory status so customers are never caught off guard.
• Stay current on changes to BESCOM and PM Surya Ghar processes, and update Helira's internal process when rules change.

Essential requirements

• 2–5 years working with government or utility processes — DISCOM liaison, subsidy administration, licensing or a similarly document-heavy regulatory role.
• Comfortable navigating government portals and physical DISCOM offices, with strong documentation discipline.
• A track record of chasing a process through to completion without needing to be reminded.
• Bengaluru-based, and willing to visit BESCOM offices in person as needed.

Preferred

• Experience specifically with BESCOM net metering or PM Surya Ghar / PMSGMBY subsidy processes.
• A Karnataka electrical supervisor Certificate of Competency.
• Fluency in Kannada.
• Experience working with vendors-of-record or similar intermediary processes.
